Arsenal bounced back from the humbling against Manchester City with a 3-1 win over Chelsea. First-half goals from Martin Odegaard and Gabriel Jesus sealed the win.
Arsenal dominated the opening exchanges, and it was Odegaard who opened the scoring. A ball from Granit Xhaka found the Gunners skipper all alone on the edge of the box, and he hit his shot first time beyond Kepa.
The Gunners skipper was at the double just after the half-hour mark. After another ball in from Xhaka that found Odegaard, the Arsenal captain was again alone in the box, and once again beat Kepa with a first-time effort.
Arsenal added a third just minutes after as a goal-mouth scramble resulted in Gabriel Jesus hammering home from close range.
After Arsenal continued to dominate the second half, Chelsea grabbed a goal back. A great ball from Mateo Kovacic found Noni Madueke, who took it down well and eased his shot past Aaron Ramsdale.
The Gunners managed to see out the remaining minutes to get back on the winner’s list and move above City in the league table.
Arsenal 3-1 Chelsea: 3 talking points as Gunners run riot
The game provided plenty of talking points, here they are.
1. Kiwior impressive in PL debut
The young defender was brought in for Rob Holding, and against a poor Chelsea side, he barely put a foot wrong. He was cool and calm on the ball and nipped into tackles when he needed to. His recovery speed also allowed Arsenal to play with a higher line with tormented Chelsea in the first half.
Overall, a great first Premier League start for the defender, and one can argue he deserves to play the remaining league games if William Saliba remains sidelined.

2. Arsenal bounce back from City defeat

The 4-1 hammering at the hands of City could have had knock-on effects for Arsenal, but the first half against Chelsea showed they didn’t carry it over.

The Gunners were back to their blistering best as they put three past a poor Chelsea defence and essentially ended the game.

The win moves Arsenal back above City, and that is all the club can do now. The squad’s mentality was on show as they put the bad City performance in the rearview mirror and hammered Chelsea in the process.

3. Gabriel injury worry?

After clearly being hampered by something, the Brazilian was replaced with six minutes of normal time remaining. He went down at least three times in the second half before eventually being replaced.

It will be a nervous wait for Mikel Arteta, as having Holding and Kiwior as your two centre-backs for the rest of the season will no doubt cause angst, especially with a trip to St. James’ Park upcoming.
