2. Thomas Partey
Thomas Partey had a quietly solid game against Liverpool. His position as a defensive midfielder naturally lends to people underrating him or not seeing his full impact. Against the Reds, he was tasked with anchoring a midfield against the likes of Curtis Jones, Thiago Alcantara, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, while also covering for the back four against an impressive attack. He played his part.
His energy and athleticism in the middle of the park are unique and essential in this Arsenal squad. Against West Ham, he will have to continue to perform. His all-around game will be crucial in keeping Arsenal airtight at the back while getting him up the pitch with penetrative passes. The latter was not seen as often at Anfield but he should have more time and space on the ball on Sunday.
Partey’s prolonged fitness and form have been an integral part of Arsenal’s success this season. If he can continue to stay fit, he will allow Arsenal to continue to dominate games.
