Should we worry about Odegaard and Partey?
It now marks back-to-back games of poor football from Arsenal’s captain. There is just something about that armband, isn’t there?
Odegaard didn’t look at all like the player we know him to be, and he was taken off with 20 minutes to go in a crunch Champions League game. Not panic stations yet, but it’s getting worrisome.
What is at panic stations is Thomas Partey and his inability to stay fit. Since arriving in north London, it has been one thing after another with the Ghanian, and his latest muscle issue makes us wonder when we will see him in an Arsenal shirt again.

Shortly after halftime, Jesus got in on the goal-scoring action, with his superb curling effort finding its way past Orjan Nyland in the Sevilla goal.

But the hosts replied within minutes as Nemanja Gudelj’s header halved the deficit. But for all the home side’s huffing and puffing, the <a href=https://paininthearsenal.com/2023/10/25/arsenal-sevilla-champions-league-gabriel-jesus/3/"https://paininthearsenal.com/2023/10/24/sevilla-1-2-arsenal-player-ratings/">Gunners escaped with a vital 2-1 win and now top Group B.

The game provided plenty of talking points; here they are.

Sevilla vs. Arsenal talking points

Gabriel Jesus reminds us of his quality

After being somewhat of a slow burn to start the season, Jesus ignited against Sevilla. Leading the line for the Gunners, the game was somewhat dreary until Jesus sprinkled his magic dust on the game.

His turn and pass for Martinelli was fluid and spectacular, and his goal after halftime was placed to perfection.

Some players are built for the big stage, and Jesus showed that when the lights are bright, he is as comfortable as they come.

Champions League campaign back on track

The enormity of Arsenal’s win in Seville can’t be underestimated. Prior to the game, the Gunners were third in the group, and a loss to the Spanish side would have put Arsenal in a bad spot halfway through the group stage.

But with the win, Arsenal now top the group and have back-to-back home games against Sevilla and Lens. The win was important, and now, Arteta’s side can put themselves in a commanding position over the course of the next two matchdays.
