Arsenal v Stoke City: Player Ratings
Arsenal found some measure of goalscoring form with both Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud appearing on the scoresheet in a 2-0 win over Stoke City at the Emirates. Here are your player ratings:
PETR CECH
GK, Arsenal FC 7.5
Saw four shots on target but nothing of particular venom. Defense seems stable now and he’s reaping the benefits.
HECTOR BELLERIN
RB, Arsenal FC 7.8
Bellerin continues to turn into a premier right back. Dealt with all comers nicely and provided some real sting going forward, as he always does.

GABRIEL
CB, Arsenal FC7.8
Bonus points for getting feisty with Arnautovic. Gabriel looks a great signing, to the point that Mertesacker may find it difficult to get back into the team. Both Gabriel and Koscielny are good headers of the ball, though it must be said that they’re also cavalier in their tackles, which can manifest in poor penalties.

LAURENT KOSCIELNY
CB, Arsenal FC7.7
Partnership with Gabriel seems mighty solid. Nearly had a goal off his noggin, but also coughed up possession needlessly in a dangerous area.

NACHO MONREAL
LB, Arsenal FC7.8
Arsenal’s first choice left back, his physicality and inventiveness in dovetailing with Alexis going forward adds to his quality.

FRANCIS COQUELIN
MID, Arsenal FC7.9
While not totally dominant in the air today, his bite was clear all over the pitch. Coquelin’s passing has improved remarkably and as long as he doesn’t try to do too much, he’s a massive asset.

SANTI CAZORLA
MID, Arsenal FC8.5
MAN OF THE MATCH- Oh, Santi Cazorla. Completing 90% of his passes, carving out six chances with four successful take-ons, he can make a team tick from anywhere on the pitch. Arsenal’s little genius pulled strings all day.

AARON RAMSEY
MID, Arsenal FC7.8
Very good performance from the Welshman. Had one or two goal sniffs, but his midfield assuredness and capability on the right flank served Arsenal well today.

MESUT OZIL
MID, Arsenal FC8.4
Created 8 chances today, one more than fellow maestro, Cazorla. Delivered an inch perfect pass to Theo Walcott for the opening goal, and threatened for the duration of his time on the pitch.

ALEXIS SANCHEZ
MID, Arsenal FC7.6
Unlucky to hit the post twice, but you can feel it all building. When the dam breaks…Look out.

THEO WALCOTT
ST, Arsenal FC7.7
Missed an easy chance in the early stages, but took the long pass from Ozil very nicely to find the space behind and slot home.

OLIVIER GIROUD
ST, Arsenal FC7.5
Came on for Theo Walcott and butchered a chance with only the keeper to beat almost immediately. But Olivier Giroud possesses one trait no other Arsenal striker has, and that’s his aerial ability. Turned in a wonderful Cazorla delivery for Arsenal’s second goal and that was that.
ALEX OXLADE-CHAMBERLAIN
MID, Arsenal FC7.4
Came on, made some runs, won the free kick that got Arsenal their second.

MIKEL ARTETA
MID, Arsenal FC7.0
Got some match time in and it’s good to see the club captain active again.
