4 free agents Arsenal should target this summer

With Mikel Arteta looking at strengthening the squad this summer, funds could become rather difficult to obtain, so free agents could be a good way to increase depth. But who?

As we slowly approach the summer transfer window, Arsenal are facing perhaps their biggest in recent memory. After a fifth-place finish and improving on the back-to-back eighth-placed finishes, Mikel Arteta needs to add quality players to take the next step.

While not having the huge transfer war chests of Manchester City, Manchester United or Chelsea, Arsenal, again, will have to be frugal with their money to get the squad to a point where it can challenge the top clubs in Europe.

Players such as Gabriel Jesus, Youri Tielemans, Gianluca Scamacca, and Serge Gnabry are just some of the names being linked to the Gunners. All of which will require some serious funds to secure, but what about the players who are coming out of contract and are available for nothing?

There are a host of free agents that are now available, and Arsenal would only need to worry about the player’s wage demands and not go through the painstaking back and forth of trying to agree on a transfer fee.

The 27-year-old midfielder will be leaving German giants Bayern Munich and is on the lookout for a new club. Arsenal’s biggest area of need is central midfield. With Thomas Partey finding it hard to stay healthy, leaving the likes of Albert Sambi Lokonga and Mohamed Elneny as the other choices, it is enough to make Gunners fans cringe.

Adding a player like Tolisso, while not as a starter but more for depth, the 27-year-old has all the tools necessary to make it in the Premier League. In a similar style to Toni Kroos, Tolisso can defend and attack rather well while being an important piece in the heart of the midfield. He also has superb technique, which is a prerequisite to being an Arsenal player.

No Champions League football could be a deal-breaker along with wages, but for experience and depth, Tolisso could be a valuable addition to the midfield, and being only 27 years old, he still has plenty of football ahead of him.
