2. Arsenal showed their improved mentality
A dominant opening 30 minutes saw Arsenal take the lead, but Spurs did grow into the contest and they threatened to break in behind several times either side of Kane’s equaliser in the first half.

But after half-time, Arsenal showed their improvement. They bossed the remaining half, and while Royal’s red card helped, the Gunners were already ahead again. It shows that this team doesn’t give up and fully believes in what it’s doing.
Mikel Arteta is doing great things.

Arsenal took the lead minutes into the second half. Bukayo Saka weaved his way into the box and hit his shot at Hugo Lloris who parried twice which allowed Jesus to poke home.

With 60 minutes gone, Spurs’ chances of taking something away from the game were dealt a blow when Emerson Royal was shown a straight red card for his challenge on Gabriel Martinelli.

Arsenal made their advantage pay as Granit Xhaka fired his shot low and across Lloris after some good work from Martinelli. The Gunners played out the remaining time without breaking a sweat to secure north London bragging rights.

Arsenal 3-1 Tottenham: 4 talking points as Gunners down Spurs

The game provided plenty of talking points and here are four.

1. Saliba again outstanding

We’re starting to run out of superlatives for this lad. Once again, he was a brick wall and often the only thing standing in between Spurs and Arsenal’s goal.

His ability on the ball was on show several times as he drew contact and pressure before easily wriggling his way out of a tight spot to keep his side going forward.

Give him a lifetime contract, and whatever money he wants. Get it done, Arsenal, because William Saliba is quickly becoming the best central defender in the Premier League.
