Arsenal make the trip to Stamford Bridge on Sunday as they look to continue the fine league form that has thrust them to top of the table.
After a nail-biting 1-0 over FZ Zurich on Thursday night to secure top spot in Group A, attention now turns to league action before the World Cup in a few weeks.
Stamford Bridge has been a notoriously bad hunting ground for the Gunners over the years, but lately, it has proven fruitful. A win over Graham Potter’s men would signal another step in the right direction for Mikel Arteta’s squad.
Chelsea vs Arsenal: 3 things to look out for at Stamford Bridge
Here are three things to look out for on Sunday.
1. Can we continue our recent good record against Chelsea?
As stated above, playing Chelsea on their home deck rarely ended well. But since Mikel Arteta took over, the Gunners have enjoyed themselves in west London.
The Blues have only won once in their last five outings against Arsenal (not counting the 4-0 pre-season loss this season).
After Chelsea’s 4-1 thumping at the hands of Brighton, this presents Arsenal with a good chance to further stamp their authority on the Premier League title race.
Can they do it?

2. Can Gabriel Jesus break his goal drought?

The Brazilian hasn’t scored in his last four league games and has failed to hit the back of the net in any of Arsenal’s Europa League games. He has four assists, but many are worried about his goal-scoring output.

Given that Jesus brings so much more to the team than just goals, it is not that big of a concern. Sure, we want him to score goals for fun, but that isn’t the be-all and end-all. He is still contributing even if he isn’t scoring.

When that changes, we have a problem, but until then, it’s as you were.

3. Team selection

With Takehiro Tomiyasu going off injured against FC Zurich, Kieran Tierney might be forced to play back-to-back games. Given his injury history, that isn’t ideal. Oleksandr Zinchenko is likely not fit to start so Arteta will have his hands full with team selection.

Bukayo Saka came off the bench Thursday, so it looks like he has shaken off that nasty-looking injury against Forest.
